Located 8,465 feet above sea level, Woodland Park is referred to as the “City above the Clouds.” Founded in 1887, it is the business and population center of Teller County. Roughly 30 minutes from Colorado Springs, it’s a small mountain town with convenient city options. Historically, sawmills in Woodland Park produced lumber and railroad ties for use in Colorado Springs and elsewhere. The harvest of timber in the area later led to the creation of the Pike National Forest, one of the nation’s first forest preserves. Cattle ranching, rodeo, and dude ranches were also part of the local economy. Real estate in Woodland Park ranges from townhomes to from horse properties, and varies widely based on availability.
